Conference Tours for Accompanying

1. PRE-CONFERENCE CITY, CULTURE, HISTORY
The pre-conference, half day city tour will give attendees the opportunity to experience some of Kampala’s iconic buildings while introducing you to some cultural traditions of Uganda.
The tour will depart from the Speke Resort in the late morning to visit the Kabaka’s Palace the home of the present King of the Buganda where a guide will take you through the history and culture of the Buganda kingdom. The Palace is situated next to the Kabakas Lake, constructed in 1880 as an ‘escape corridor’ but now houses numerous bird species and has become area of conservation in the city.
Lunch will be enjoyed at 1400 hours and followed by a visit to the Baha’I Mother Temple of Africa, set in beautiful tranquil surroundings is the only Temple of it’s sort on the African Continent. Attendees will then be taken to The Uganda Museum to view exhibits of traditional culture, archaeology, history, science, and natural history. Before heading back to the Speke Resort the group will have the opportunity to visit a local market full of traditional crafts made by and supporting disadvantaged members of the local community – particularly widows, youth and the disabled.
Lunch will be at the Lawns or another five star restaurant.

DAY 1 – DAY ONE OF THE CONFERENCE
Accompanying persons – Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Botanical Gardens
SUSTAINABILITY AND CONSERVATION
Surrounded by the peaceful waters of Lake Victoria, Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary is home to 52 orphaned and rescued chimpanzees. Guests will be taken to Entebbe where they will go across by boat across to the to the sanctuary which provides an exceptional opportunity to closely observe these fascinating great apes in our unique setting. You will spend time viewing the chimps and learning about their rehabilitation and the work of the Chimpanzee Trust.
Lunch will be enjoyed out on the Island before returning by boat to Entebbe where guests will then enjoy a gentle walk and some relaxing tranquillity amongst the expansive Botanical Gardens where you will find plenty of wildlife including black and white colobus, tree squirrels and many species of birds as well as its pockets of thick rainforest.

DAY 2
Accompanying persons – Ssezibwa Falls, Mabira Forest and the Source of the Nile
ADVENTURE AND DISCOVERY
Today’s visit will take guests on a visit to Ssezibwa Falls, Mabira Forest and the Source of the Nile. Heading East, they will stop at Ssezibwa Falls to visit the picturesque waterfall created by the river squeezing through a narrow opening of rocks, before heading to Mabira Forest where they will enjoy a chance to see hundreds of birds and butterfly species as well as a wide range of animals including primates.
The group will then continue on to Jinja where they will have lunch at the beautifully situated Source of the Nile Hotel before visiting the Source of the Nile Park with it’s interesting historical significance and taking a boat trip on the lake to view the source itself.

DAY 3
Accompanying persons – Making Tea and Craft Paper
WOMEN, INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENUERSHIP
On the final day you will be shown how to make a cup of traditional Ugandan Sweet Tea and enjoy taking part in the process of making craft paper from banana leaves. Following an early start, the group will be taken to a local farm outside Kampala where they will begin the day by milking cows. From here they will take part in the traditional process of brewing and enjoying the sweet milk tea that is a local speciality.
After an early lunch, guests will continue to a paper processing plant (Paper craft) where they will have the opportunity to take part in the different elements of creating craft paper from cutting down the banana leaves to forming a piece of craft paper. Having had such an early start, they will return to Speke in good time to rest before the evening social event.

DAY 4 – SPECIAL WATER SAFARI
Accompanying persons – Boat cruise to Jinja, source of the Nile and back
We take a special boat cruise to Jinja, the adventure capital on the second largest like in the world. This trip will take us at least 3.0 hours. Transport which will provide you with comfort, safety and stunning views of Lake Victoria and the Ugandan coastline, all while avoiding the traffic and craziness of the roads.
The vessel will be transporting passengers at a cost for a return Journey, departing from Water Front Beach, Entebbe or Speke resort at 9 a.m. and returning from Jinja at 5 pm
While at Jinja, we visit the source of the Nile and also have lunch at a famous restaurant in Jinja. There will be time for shopping too
